What is Hellcatraz II?
The barge itself never actually floated, by the way. That was just a myth. It sat on a fixed platform that created a mild rocking motion. That piece of Vegas engineering, like the statue’s original perch, is now history.
The barge functioned as an intimate stage graced by legendary performers, including Dionne Warwick, Blues Traveler, Matt Goss, and CeeLo Green. Its final performer was another Vegas icon rumored to be powered by hydraulics: Wayne Newton. His “Up Close & Personal” residency in 2019 was the lounge’s final act before the pandemic shut down the Strip for 90 days and closed Cleopatra’s Barge for good in March 2020.
The lounge enjoyed one last moment in the spotlight in 2022, however, when Adele—on the eve of the debut of her long-delayed residency at the Colosseum—tweeted a photo of herself goofing around nervously on its abandoned deck.

It is with that ambition that Yggdrasil has developed two new solutions that Curwen believes can change both how games are created and who is able to create them. Game in a Box is designed to make the development process faster, more efficient and more flexible, while Studio in a Box goes a step further, giving businesses the tools to build their own portfolio of original games without the need to establish a traditional studio of their own.
Game in a Box addresses the development process itself. Traditionally, a game idea passes through multiple stages – from maths and development to QA and certification – potentially involving different teams and repeated rounds of work.
Game in a Box brings those stages into a connected workflow, giving creators greater control over a game as it evolves. The platform is already being used internally by Yggdrasil and is being piloted with selected partners ahead of its wider market release.

The company committed to a management reshuffle late last year as part of this transition, scrapping the role of deputy CEO after Velipekka Nummikoski was shuffled into a new role.
The operator has made a number of key operational and technology changes during this process, including switching its sportsbook backend from DraftKings to OpenBet. And hiring a number of industry stalwards to lead its competitive business.
Former Scientific Games veteran Chris Armes was appointed as the new executive VP of Gaming Technologies in early August. Armes is set to take up his new role in the autumn of 2026, leading Veikkaus’ technology organisation from its Helsinki headquarters.
